Privacy policy

Lead Eight Digital ("Lead Eight", "we", "us") is a digital agency based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through leadeight.com, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it in plain language.

What we collect

When you contact us. If you send a message through our contact form, we collect the details you choose to give us: your name, email address, phone number (optional), your company website (optional), the services you're interested in, and your message. We also record the page you sent it from and, if you arrived from a campaign, the campaign details in the link (such as UTM parameters or a Google Ads click ID), so we know which of our work reached you.

When you email or call us. We keep the messages and details you send us so we can reply and follow up.

When you visit the site. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically receives basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We also use analytics to understand how the site is used (see "Cookies and analytics" below).

We don't ask for sensitive information through the site. Please don't include it in your message.

Why we collect it

• To reply to your enquiry and talk with you about whether we're a good fit
• To provide and manage our services if you become a client
• To understand how people use our site, so we can improve it
• To keep our website and systems secure and to prevent spam
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations

We'll only use your information for the purposes you'd reasonably expect, or with your consent.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as needed to do their job:

• Website hosting: Vercel, which delivers this website.
• Contact form handling and storage: the form submits to our own system on Google Cloud, where enquiries are stored securely.
• Email delivery: Resend, which sends the notification emails we receive when you contact us.
• Analytics: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, if you agree to analytics cookies.
• Project collaboration: Basecamp, for clients who work with us on projects.

Some of these providers process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, so your information may be subject to the laws of those places. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use analytics cookies from Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find us. Where required, we ask for your permission before setting them, and you can say no without affecting your use of the site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

We don't use the site to build advertising profiles of you, and our fonts are served from our own site rather than from a third party.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to respond to you and manage our business records. If you become a client, we keep project and billing records for as long as our legal and accounting obligations require. If you'd like us to delete your information sooner, ask us and we'll do it unless the law requires us to keep it.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to the systems that store enquiries, and spam protection on our forms. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the care of your information seriously. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you and the appropriate authorities as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you
• correct anything that's wrong or out of date
• delete your information
• stop using your information for a purpose you previously agreed to (withdraw consent)

To make a request, email us at hello@leadeight.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Marketing emails

We'll only send you marketing emails if you've asked us to or given your consent, and every message will include an easy way to unsubscribe. Replying to your own enquiry isn't marketing.

Children

Our services are for businesses and organizations. This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Links to other sites

Our site links to other websites, such as Basecamp. They have their own privacy practices, and we aren't responsible for them. We encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change, and we'll change the date below. If a change is significant, we'll make that clear.
